The artist
Photographer Thomas Klein
The moment in which the everyday transforms into meaning is the starting point of my photographic work. I am not interested in depicting reality, but in making the invisible visible – those in-between spaces where reality and perception shift.

This subtle shift begins already with the titles: words that suggest something familiar, evoke associations, hint at known references – only to confront the viewer with images that defy these expectations. The titles are not explanations, but gentle disruptions; they invite a second glance, a deeper engagement, a questioning of perception.

This interplay continues in the photographs themselves. What at first appears familiar often turns out to be abstract, alien, or ambiguous. Contexts dissolve, perspectives shift, details are magnified or isolated – until the image detaches itself from its original source and opens up an entirely new visual space.

What emerges is a universe of its own – with a distinct atmosphere, a conceptual depth, and a compelling perspective that challenges the way we see the world. These are not depictions of external reality, but reflections of an inner gaze. They are visual meditations, rich in associations and resonances, revealing the world from a completely different point of view.
